THE RMDY TEACHING COMMUNITY

Lots of great yoga teachers all over the country helped me with this book, and improved it immensely (lots of good karma for them, no doubt).

Starting with Michael Lechonczak here in New York City, they are all experienced in working with athletes and bringing their own distinct perspectives to working with male yogis. I'd like to make yogis all over the country aware of who they are, where they teach and, if you live in their areas, how to hook up with them.

They are:

Michael Lechonczak, New York, NY: Michael has been trained in both the Iyengar and Anusara traditions and is now pioneering, along with his wife, Robin Whitney Levine, their own method known as Intelligent YogaTM. He teaches at Equinox health clubs and sees private clients in the NY area, and can be reached at: nyyogaman@nyc.rr.com.

Hilary Lindsay, Nashville, TN: She was the yoga teacher for former Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George for nine years - during which he never missed a game due to injury. She's terrific, non-dogmatic and she's got great energy. See her site: activeyoga.com

Craig Aaron, Atlanta, GA: Craig has worked with several of the Georgia Tech men's sports teams as well as top pro athletes in the Atlanta area, including tennis pro Robbie Ginepri and record-breaking NFL running back Jamal Lewis. For a real challenge, check out the video he did with his wife, Jennifer, "Extreme Yoga for the Warrior Athlete.''

Danny Poole, Denver, CO: Danny, a terrific, sports-minded teacher and man's man, is currently working with nine members of the Denver Broncos football team as well as the entire University of Colorado squad. His website: yogadanny.com

Katherine Roberts, Cave Creek, AZ: Katherine has made a specialty and a booming business out of yoga for golf: she hosts a show on The Golf Channel, has a new book, "Yoga for Golfers,'' and has also produced a series of DVD's on this subject. Her website: yogaforgolfers.com

Nancy Nielsen, Denver, CO: She is the yoga instructor for the NBA's Denver Nuggets, one of the up-and-coming teams in the league (coincidence?). E-mail her at: nancynesvig@cs.com

Jennifer Greenhut, L.A.: Jen has worked with pro tennis players, including Justin Gimelstob, who credits her and yoga with allowing him to avoid back surgery and saving his career. She teaches at Mark Blanchard's power yoga studios in L.A. and sees private clients. E-mail: babyinky@aol.com.
