REAL MEN DO YOGA WORKSHOPS
I've been asked to lead a
weekend yoga retreat for men - June 17-19, 2005 - at the prestigious Kripalu yoga and
meditation center in Lenox, Mass., in the heart of the Berkshire mountains.
Michael Lechonczak, my teacher and a consultant on the book, will partner
with me as we:
- do tons of yoga
- learn about which specific
postures and sequences are best for different sports and fitness activities
- learn how to meditate or
deepen your practice
We'll work hard, we'll learn
a lot and, most of all, we'll have fun.
We invite you to join us. Of
course, Kripalu will have lots of great activities, including yoga and
spa treatments for the wives, girlfriends and significant others who accompany
the guys on this weekend - so rest assured that they'll have a great time,
too.
Here's the copy describing the workshop from the Kripalu catalog. See also their website, WWW.KRIPALU.ORG, or call toll-free at 800-741-7353.

Real Men Do Yoga
John Capouya and Michael Lechonczak
For men at any level of yoga experience, including beginners.
When the book Real Men Do Yoga came out, it drew praise in publications from GQ and Men's Health to Yoga Journal and Elle Magazine and was featured by Newsweek and ABC, CBS, and CNN. Join the cocreators of the book, author John Capouya and yoga teacher Michael Lechonczak, for this unique Father's Day yoga workshop geared to men's interests and customized for male bodies.
Beginning on Friday night with an overview of the ways yoga improves men's bodies and lives, we will move into the practice of fundamental poses, proper breathing, and alignment. Saturday sessions will focus on postures for flexibility, strength, and balance, partner or two-man work, guided relaxation, and an introduction to meditation. On Sunday we will look at yoga for performance and injury prevention in athletics, from running to golf.
Describing this weekend yoga ''training camp'' Capouya says: "The atmosphere will be informal and nondogmatic. We'll work hard together, we'll learn a lot from each other, and above all, we'll have fun.'' For guys, this is a great way to start or deepen a yoga practice. For the women in their lives, this is the perfect gift for father, husband, partner, or son.
Note Bring a yoga mat.
